Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said that he used to see Marcus Rashford as an selfish individual player, but the Swede believes that the England international has grown into a team player.
The former Barcelona attacker made this known while speaking to the Mirror. He has described Rashford as the future of United.
He said: “Rashford is the future of Manchester United. In the beginning, I saw him more as an individual – now he is playing more for the collective. He is using his quality more for the team, not for himself only.
“He has big potential and a big future with United and the special thing is that he comes from the academy. I think he has no limits.”
Rashford has been one of the best players for Manchester United this season, especially after the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last December. The 21-year-old has played 26 Premier League games this season, scoring nine goals and providing six assists.
Over the weekend, he scored United’s only goal as they fell to a disappointing loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the quarter-final of the English FA Cup.
He has appeared in all Manchester United’s UEFA Champions League games, scoring twice, with one of those goals the penalty winner against Paris Saint-Germain in the second round of the competition. He is part of the England squad to prosecute their Euro 2020 qualifier against the Czech Republic and Montenegro.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping he stays fit during after the international break as his United team look to recover from two successive defeats when they face Watford on the 30th of March.
Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour has urged Manchester United to swap Alexis Sanchez with Gareth Bale given the similarities in their wages and his poor performances since he joined the Old Trafford side last year.
He said: ‘[Sanchez] was brilliant at Arsenal, fantastic. He was one of the few players you would pay to watch. There’s not many of those… Eden Hazard is another one at Chelsea. Sanchez was in such great form at Arsenal.
‘I said Manchester United got an absolute bargain when they signed him because he should make your team better. But it just hasn’t happened. I don’t know why. I’d go to Real Madrid and say let’s swap him with Gareth Bale, who would be on similar kind of wages.’
