There’s a way politicians are so talented in using words that they specialize on playing with everything they say to their advantage.

After the National Police Service responded to Deputy president and Elgeyo senator remarks that the Directorate of criminal Investigations is not mandated to handle economic crimes Murkomen has decided to change the meaning of his statement.

According to the senator they haven’t questioned the legal mandate of the DCI but rather they are questioning the capacity of the institution and the professional competence of the office holder.

“I strongly believe that DCI, which is led by Mr George Kinoti, lacks the institutional capacity to investigate complex economic crimes, yet he (Mr Kinoti) has overwhelmed his office with corruption matters.

We need to know the criteria for allocating investigations between DCI and EACC. Third, the office of DPP must retain and guard its constitutional independence,”Murkomen’s earlier statement.

In response, the Police Service fired a tweet on Monday afternoon that quoted the National Police Service Act 2011 on the functions of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

‘The roles of the DCI include among others undertaking investigations on serious crimes including homicide, narcotic crimes, trafficking, money laundering, terrorism, economic crimes, piracy, organized crime and cyber-crime,’ the tweet stated.

The Orange Democratic party’s Philip Etale responded by advising Murkomen that sometimes wisdom dictates that one shuts up when cornered by facts.

According to Etale the senator has lowered himself to a village makanga shouting and heckling at everything.
