No Longer Yours: Ngirita Family Pays Back For Their NYS Sins

One of the National Youth Service suspect Ngirita family’s controversial property has been seized by the government through the Asset Recovery Agency.

The government, through the Assets Recovery Agency, has turned its guns towards possessing the controversial property owned by the Ngirita family.

The agency is seeking to have the property forfeited to the state on the grounds that it was illegally acquired by more than Ksh400 million from the National Youth Service (NYS).

The property reportedly belongs to Phyllis Njeri, Jeremiah Gichini Ngirita and their mother Lucy Wambui Ngirita who are still facing charges related to the loss of money at NYS.

“It is in the interest of justice that court issues an order that the said assets belonging to the three, and which are reasonably believed to be proceeds of crime, be forfeited to government and transferred to ARA,” argued ARA through lawyer Fredrick Musyoki.

Broken down, the three cars include two Toyota Station Wagons belonging to Phylis and Lucy and a Toyota Pickup belonging to Jeremiah.

The parcels of land set for repossession include a 0.70-hectare parcel of land in Waitaluk, Kitale registered under Sylvia Ajiambo Ongoro and another one in Naivasha Town acquired in July 2016.

The others are situated in Nakuru East measuring an acre acquired in 2017, a piece in Kiamunyi area of Nakuru town and another in Mwicingiri area, Naivasha, which was bought in July 2016.

“Upon investigations, the bank statements and documents concerning the accounts, the agency established that the three and their business entities and associates received funds fraudulently from NYS split into several transactions,” revealed court documents.

The properties were frozen last year after the prosecution convinced the judge that they had been fraudulently obtained.

The family reportedly received Ksh466.7 million from NYS.
