A safe containing Ksh17 billion in fake currency has been discovered at Barclays Bank, Queens way branch in Nairobi.
A statement released by a local TV station revealed that a Tuesday raid at the branch located along Mama Ngina street led to the discovery of the large consignment of fake currency“Flying Squad discover a safe containing Ksh17 billion fake currency at Barclays Bank, Queens way branch.
According to reports , the security authorities were camped at the bank in a bid to uncover a fake currency syndicate.“Flying Squad and DCI officers camp at Barclays Bank Kenya, Queensway branch, Nairobi; sources say team investigating fake currency syndicate,” nation revealed
Barclays bank Queens branch, could not affirm the actual amount as the bank declined to confirm owing to the sensitivity of the issue.
