BREAKING: French court hands Congolese singer Koffi Olomide 2 year suspension sentence for sexual assault

Congolese singer Antoine Agbepa Mumba famously known as Koffi Olomide was sentenced on Monday by the Nanterre Criminal Court to two years’ suspended prison sentence for “minor sexual offense in 15 years”, in this case one of his former dancers.

The prosecutor’s office requested at the hearing, which was held in camera on February 11, seven years in prison against the star of the rumba, prosecuted for “sexual abuse with violence, coercion, threat or surprise per person with authority “and for” sequestration “on four dancers for acts committed in the Paris region between 2002 and 2006.

The dancers alledge they were detained by three men while Olomide was touring or recording in France between 2002 and 2006, and had their passports and phones confiscated.

They say they were forced to have sex with Olomide, who allegedly struck them if they tried to resist.

Olomide, 62, was a pioneer of the soukous genre that grew out of Congolese rumba.
