Why Chelsea Could Make a Draw With Everton

The Blues head into the game fresh from having secured their place in the Europa League quarter-finals thanks to their 5-0 thrashing of Dynamo Kiev in midweek.

Chelsea FC will now take on Slavia Prague for a place in the Europa League semi-finals next month.

The west London side were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Wolves at Stamford Bridge last weekend as they dropped points in the top-four race.

Chelsea FC are currently sixth in the Premier League table but they know that a win at Everton on Sunday would move them back level on points with fourth-placed Arsenal.

However, former Liverpool FC star Lawrenson believes that Chelsea FC are likely to drop points in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park this weekend.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Everton boss Marco Silva needs a response from his side here after they made a mess of things against Newcastle, losing 3-2 after being 2-0 up.

“What Silva needs is a performance a bit like the one his side put in against Liverpool at the start of March, and he could definitely do with the sort of atmosphere the crowd created at that game.

“Chelsea have been in Europa League action this week, which won’t help their energy levels but they will be full of confidence after thrashing Dynamo Kiev and I don’t see them leaving Goodison Park empty handed.”

Chelsea FC are looking to break back into the top four this season after they finished in fifth place and won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte last term.

The west London side brought in Maurizio Sarri as their new manager last July.
