Stand still as pathologists fail to prove burnt body belongs to fallen Ruto’s captain

Both denial and suspicion are reigning in the case of Ruto’s pilot Captain Magonga who died in a chopper crash along four Americans in Lake Turkana on the evening of March 3.

His family has now refused to bury his burnt remains until their ordered DNA tests arrive.They have requested the US embassy in Nairobi to help investigate what brought down the helicopter and resolve the puzzle of Mario’s body.

“The bodies of the four American tourists were positively identified but it was very difficult to tell the remains of the fifth person as that of Capt Mario.

“The remains were charred beyond recognition,” Mario’s uncle wrote to the embassy on March 8.The letter was addressed to Kyle McCarter.

Mario’s sister Gladys Magonga mentioned that sample of the remains was sent to US for DNA analysis.

“There was no body. The rescue team found some bones, whose DNA the government pathologist could not ascertain,” she told journalists.

The kin also wants detectives to help unravel the nature of business of the Americans, the individuals that the pilot last spoke to and who ordered him to fly at night.
