Liverpool’s Sadio Mane sets new record

Liverpool took on Fulham in the first Premier League game on Sunday.

The Reds headed into the game knowing a win would see them go temporarily top of the Premier League as Manchester City were in FA Cup action on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will have been full of confidence heading into the game after beating Bayern Munich 3-1 in Germany earlier in the week.

Fulham, on the other hand, were the most out of form Premier League side heading into the game.

They also have the worst defensive record of anyone in the top flight.

Mane sets a record

As was to be expected on Sunday, Liverpool started the first half the better of the two sides.

They would eventually take the lead in the 26th minute through Sadio Mane.

Mane’s opening goal vs Fulham means he has now scored 10 goals in his last 10 Premier League outings.

With Mohamed Salah out of form recently, it is exactly what Liverpool would want from their other main winger.

As well as continuing his impressive form, Mane has also broken a record vs Fulham.

Demba Ba previously held the record for most goals in a Premier League season by a Senegalese player, scoring 16 in the 2011-12 campaign.

However, Mane has now managed to net 17 already this season with seven games still to play.
