A controversial and outspoken Member of parliament Oscar Sudi has come out to defend the arrest of Laikipia women representative Cate Waruguru yesterday but later released.
Mr Sudi states that the county commissioner acted on behalf of interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i who was in the county with leaders for a security mission.
Sudi said that there was nothing wrong for Waruguru to protest the arrest of the matatu operators who she represents.
“It is not a coincidence that she was arrested when Matiang’i was in her county. County Commissioner must have been given instructions to undertake that assignment,” Sudi posted on Facebook page.
“Matiang’i and company should be reminded that we have a new Constitution in place and such heinous acts by the authority will never be tolerated. We are also aware that Hon. Waruguru is being targeted over her firm political stand known to all Kenyans,” he added.
Waruguru was later released after Kenyans complained .
Both Cate and Sudi are champions of the deputy president William Ruto 2022 presidential campaign.
Sudi has severally accused Matiang’i and DCI boss George Kinoti of being compromised by the opposition leader Raila Odinga to attack William Ruto.
