Marco Silva in a tight spot to make Everton Great again

Everton listening to offers for Idrissa Gana Gueye amid Lyon interest

Marco Silva will need to sort out Everton’s inconsistencies in the summer transfer window with new additions should he still be in charge as the club continue to fall well short of expectations from many. However, it appears the club could be prepared to allow one of their key players to leave in the summer should they receive any offers for him.

According to a report by Buzz Sport in France, Everton are open to offers for Idrissa Gana Gueye amid interest from Olympique de Lyonnais. It is claimed that the Toffees are hoping for bids of at least 20-25million (£17-£21m) for the Senegal international maestro as the 29-year-old’s future at Goodison Park does not appear to be certain. Firstly, considering that Everton rejected offers from Paris Saint-Germain in the winter transfer window worth a considerable amount more than the values being suggested, it would be difficult to see the Toffees accepting that low.

Also, there may be a doubt over the source of the news as it is not a well-known outlet and could just be a rouge article that has been produced, so it could be a case of ‘let’s wait and see’ when it comes to any possible deal. However, with that said, Gueye’s future at Goodison Park certainly appears to be coming to an end as he has not looked at his best in the middle of the park for a while and the club could look to cash in on him and replace him with a younger and talented star. With another Champions League outfit interested in the 29-year-old, it could be another ideal transfer for the player and his hopes of playing football in Europe’s biggest club competition before it is too late.

A departure may come as a blow initially, however, with the right recruitment and enough time, Gueye is ultimately replaceable and Everton should seriously consider thinking about offloading him in the summer.
