Manchester United star Phil Jones has made the bold claim that Paul Pogba ran rings around club legend Paul Scholes during training sessions.
The Frenchman has been in scintillating form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival but he has some way to go in terms of matching the former midfielder, at least with. his current club.
Pogba is a World Cup winner amongst many of his other trophies but he’s yet to get his hands on the Premier League trophy.
Jones has revealed just how well thought of the former Juventus man was by his teammates, even before he left United.
Paul’s recent performances has seen once again become involved in the debate over the world’s best midfielder.
According to Goal, Phil said: “Paul’s Paul, when he was at United before he left to go to Juventus I remember how he used to come into training and take the mick out of… well not take the mick but used to run rings around Scholesy and all the players and everyone used to be wowed by him.
“He’s come back and Paul’s Paul, he’s an unbelievably talented player. The things he can do with the ball are incredible, he can see a pass, he’s got a left foot, right foot, his shot, he’s a strong boy, and he can be as good as he wants to be.”
Pogba is the complete midfielder and has benefitted superbly by being moved further forward by Solskjaer.
The academy product’s starting position may be as a left central-midfielder but the moment Manchester United have the ball he has moved into the attacking-midfield role.
This, however, doesn’t apply during clashes against top opposition where he would be dropped back into the engine room to control possession for his side.
There’s no doubt that if Pogba can keep up his performances he could drag United into the top four singlehandedly before the season is over.
