Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko in his mission of ‘cleaning’ the city has ordered ‘illegal’ structures to be brought down.

The structures are around the parking lot along Kenyatta Avenue opposite Grandregency Hotel.

Sonko had secretly toured the area and expressed his anger for city council staff who had allowed traders to encroach the area.

The traders had put up tents to sell clothes, and others food.

An audibly angry county boss hurled insults seemingly to the county officials who were supposed to ensure the hawkers have not occupied the space and dared them to quit if they couldn’t do their job.

“Mtu anapika githeri hapa CBD, hii ni Ujinga gani? (People are selling githeri in the CBD, this is nonsense)” said the agitated county Boss.

He added that the area was around a 5-star Hotel and UN delegates were having a summit and they painted Nairobi with ‘bad’ image.

“Ona hii takataka (see this nonsense)” Sonko could not hide his anger.
