Zidane has been closely following Hazard’s progress since 2010

Daily Mail report that Zinedine Zidane has first spotted Eden Hazard as a talented young player in 2010 when he was at the Ligue 1 side Lille, and gave Real Madrid a call about him.

At that time Zidane wasn’t even an assistant coach yet, but he was passionately watching football and keeping in contact with Madrid. That year the Frenchman also recommended the club to persuade the defender Raphael Varane, who eventually ended up at Santiago Bernabeu.

In 2012, when Hazard was about to leave Lille to join Chelsea, Zidane once again alerted Los Blancos about the Belgian, but Madrid decided not to make the move, signing Luka Modric at that time instead.

So, it is to no surprise that Zinedine Zidane’s recent reappointment at Real Madrid has reportedly strengthened Eden Hazard’s determination to join Los Blancos in the summer.

The 28-year-old Chelsea player has also never hidden his fascination with the French legend describing him as his ‘Idol’:

“Everyone knows the respect I have for Zidane as a player, but also as a manager. He was my idol. For sure, to play under Zidane would be a dream.”
