Eugene Wamalwa’s Name Dragged Into The Kimwarer Arror Dam Scandal. DCI Now Breathing Down His Neck!

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa who appeared before the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on the morning of Thursday, March 14 distanced himself from Arror, Kimwarer dam scandal saying it was not under his docket.

Wamalwa had been summoned by the DCI for interrogation over the procurement, tendering and payment of Ksh 21 billion made to Italian Company, CMC di Ravena, without delivering any service

In tweet, the Devolution CS argued that the multi-billion project was not under his jurisdiction.

Wamalwa however, said that he supported the fight against corruption urging Kenyans to support the President’s commitment in ensuring taxpayers money were not lost through corruption.

The scandal which has caused uproar from Kenyans has seen top government officials particularly Cabinet Secretaries whose dockets appeared to be directly or indirect associated with the project deny responsibility.

Earlier in the month, Water CS Simon Chelugui also disassociated himself from the project saying it was not under his docket

The DCI had earlier summoned Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich for a two-day long interrogation over the same matter.

Top officials at the National Treasury and Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) are also lined up for interrogation.

The officials are accused approving the mega project and making payment in billions to the controversial Italian company with complete disregard to the due process and advice of former Attorney General (AG) Githu Muigai.
