EPL legend comment that will melt Arsenal fans

Arsenal fans will love what Shearer said about their club

England football legend, Alan Shearer has hailed a “brilliant” weekend for Arsenal after they climbed back into the top four thanks to their 2-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Goals from Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sealed the three points for the Gunners as they became the first team to beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the Premier League since he took over from Jose Mourinho. The result lifted Arsenal into fourth and left them two points ahead of Manchester United with eight games left to play this season.

Arsenal are also now just one point behind third-placed Tottenham as the race for Champions League qualification hots up. Chelsea FC can move level on points with Arsenal if they win their game in hand – so the stage is set for an enthralling race for the final Champions League qualification spots this season.

And England legend Shearer has admitted that Arsenal were fully deserving of the three points after their impressive win over the Red Devils in front of their home fans. Writing in his column for The Sun, Shearer said“What a brilliant weekend for Arsenal and I’m now struggling to call the top four.

“You wouldn’t have thought that four or five weeks ago when Tottenham looked nailed on for third and the Gunners were sixth. “But it’s turning into one hell of a battle for those Champions League places.

“Arsenal deserve this weekend for how positive they were, going in against Manchester United with two strikers and Mesut Ozil. “They got a result because of boss Unai Emery being brave. They’ve been on a superb run to get the points and close the gap on Spurs to just one point. “Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham were a shoo-in a few weeks ago.

Now they’ve got an unbelievable challenge on their hands. “They go away to Liverpool next and then have to take this form into their new stadium — and who knows how they will react to that? “Spurs have also got to go to Manchester City, whereas Arsenal have an easier run-in. “Chelsea missed a chance in their home draw with Wolves and United have now lost their first league game under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.”
