Bayern vs Liverpool: Who will reach the last eight?

Liverpool are in Germany for their Champions League last-16 second leg with Bayern Munich.

The two sides played out a tense goalless draw at Anfield last month with the tie finely-poised ahead of the return at the Allianz Arena.

Jurgen Klopp has been urged to prioritise the Premier League but he will want his side to continue to challenge on all fronts until the end of the season.

Can they knock out the German champions and secure their place in the draw for the last eight of the competition?

Here are Mirror Football writers’ predictions ahead of the encounter in Munich on Wednesday night.

Spurs are through. Manchester United are through. And Manchester City are well and truly through.

Now all we need is Liverpool ’s front three to turn on the style and book Jurgen Klopp and Co in Friday’s Champions League quarter-final draw.

Bayern stifled them at Anfield but I expect they will be far more expansive at home.

They can afford to be because they have the brilliant Manuel Neuer on hand to take care of Messrs Salah, Firmino and Mane.

For me, that is the key battle tonight. And you’d hope at least one of those three will find a way to break through in Munich.

On a night where Bayern will attack, things will play into Liverpool’s hands.

Niko Kovac’s side have been in good form of late, and much will depend on how Virgil van Dijk deals with Robert Lewandowski.

But on the counter attack, Liverpool have too much speed and should be able to take advantage of defensive gaps.

Jurgen Klopp insists he has no plans to prioritise the Premier League – but I think he will have little choice after this one.

Bayern showed the threat they can pose at Anfield and I fancy them to go through.

Liverpool will have plenty on the counter but the depth of their squad is starting to be tested and it may be one game too far.
