Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos has requested for forgiveness from president Uhuru Kenyatta on behalf of the county leaders who had given the head of state ultimatum

The second time governor and a close friend to deputy president said that the ultimatum that emanated from section of leaders were their personal attributes but not of the community.

Tolgos said that the investigation agencies should be allowed to do their job effectively without being intimidated.

“Mr. president, I on behalf of the people of Elgeyo Marakwet were are very sorry for the remarks attributed to you by some leaders, we are ready to let the set agencies to do their job effectively without interference, “he said.

The MPs – Daniel Rono (Keiyo South), Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East), William Kisang (Marakwet West) and Elgeyo-Marakwet Woman Representative Jane Kiptoo – warned that they would organise demonstrations against the government. 

“On behalf of the people of Elgeyo-Marakwet, we sincerely apologise to the head of State over political utterances by four MPs and a handful of MCAs, purporting to be speaking on behalf of the people on the ongoing investigations,” he was quoted saying.

The contentious issue was the loss of sh 21 billion allocated for the construction of dams in the region,finance cainet secretary Henry Rotich was grilled last over his role in the payments.

Mr Tolgos also defended the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, adding that if the MPs thought it sabotage’s DP Ruto’s chances of being president, they should have used a right mechanism to handle the matter.

“If the MPs were irked by perceived differences between the President and DP William Ruto, owing to the handshake between the President and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, they ought to have relaxed instead of ranting because Jubilee has mechanisms of resolving disputes,” he said.

Mount Kenya leaders led by William Kabogo had questioned the rift valley leaders on politicizing on national matter.

Kabogo had said that no community is targeted in the fight against corruption.
