Tension as Okoth Obado meets Raila for the first time since Sharon’s murder

Something happened in Kisumu on Monday but the media did not talk about. That is the rare handshake between ODM leader Raila Odinga and embattled Migori governor Okoth Obado.

The two leaders met in Kisumu City for the first time since Obado was accused with killing his girlfriend Sharon Otieno.

Obado was one of the stakeholders that attended a meeting at the Royal Swiss Hotel in Kisumu to discuss the plight of sugar farmers.

Okoth Obado is fighting to clear his name from the murder of his seven month pregnant girlfriend Sharon Otieno.

Sharon’s mutilated body was found in a thicket in Kodera forest, three days after being lured to abduction by Obado’s aide Michael Oyamo.

An autopsy report later revealed that Obado was the father of the unborn baby. The governor was later charged together with his three aides.

Obado and Raila have had divergent political views. Obado was not happy with ODM’s decision to award Senator Ochillo Ayacko with a direct nomination during last year’s by elections.

Obado was also the first Luo Governor to welcome DP Ruto to Nyanza, for a series of projects.
