How Marcus Rashford turned from a top player to world class

Marcus Rashford has scored 6 goals in all competitions since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho. According to reports, United want a new contract for the 21-year-old as his deal expires in 2020 (with an option of one more year).

BBC pundit Jermaine Jenas reckons it’s not just finances but a squad role that Rashford should be interested in.

Jenas told BBC Radio 5 live: ”I think long-term in Marcus Rashford’s head; he wants to be the main man. The manager has got them all playing well but the message he is sending is to start turning him into a 15-20 goals-a-season-guy.

”That is what will take him from a top, top player to a world-class player who can demand £200,000 a week. If you watch a lot of the games Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been in charge of, United don’t have as much possession but he’s happy with that.

”He knows how dangerous they are on the counter-attack. They have a strategy and a way of playing that is getting them results.”
