‘Haitoshi mboga’, Youthful Health Nominee rejects Sonko’s job offer

33- year old medic nominated by Mike Sonko last month alongside four others to fill vacant positions in his Cabinet, has turned down a job offered by the Governor to head the Nairobi county health docket.

Dr Stellah Wairimu Bosire – Otieno failed to appear to an appointment meant for vetting which was conducted on Monday by the Nairobi County Assembly’s Committee.

During the vetting exercise, the committee heard that Dr Bosire failed to submit her credentials and other documents as was required of other nominees.

“Unfortunately, it has come to that. I will serve Kenyans in other spaces,” Ms Bosire was quoted as saying by Nation.co.ke.

The committee chairman, acting Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Chege Mwaura, added: “She never presented her papers to the committee to be vetted so we assumed she was not interested.”

According to reports, Dr Bosire had earlier voiced reservations about working with Governor Sonko citing discomfort with his leadership style.

Sonko has said that he will nominate another person to take over the health docket.

“She was referred to me by one of my confidants as I wanted a woman well-grounded in health matters. However, we will nominate somebody else. These things are normal and they do happen,” said the City Hall boss.

Bosire, a mother of a five-year-old son, holds a degree in medicine from the University of Nairobi and a Masters in Global health policy from the University of London.
