What Arsenal fans chanted at Man Utd supporters after penalty award

Arsenal fans were quick to poke fun at Manchester United supporters at the Emirates as the Gunners were awarded a second-half penalty in their Premier League win over the Red Devils.

Referee Jon Moss pointed to the spot after Fred had felled Alexandre Lacazette in the box and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stepped up to score from 12 yards.

The match came just a few days after United were the beneficiary of a controversial spot kick in Paris.

VAR penalised PSG for handball in the dying minutes in the French capital allowing Marcus Rashford to convert and complete a famous comeback to send Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side into the Champions League quarter-finals.

And while some saw Moss’s decision as being soft, VAR is not used in the Premier League so the decision stood.

Sky commentator Jamie Redknapp believes Moss made an error in awarding the penalty, claiming the challenge from Fred did not warrant a foul.

“Looking at the TrueView for Jonathan Moss and I was wondering whether his view was impeded,” Redknapp said. “But it’s not. He had a good view of this one, he really does.

“He can see through the gap and he can see the players coming together. I think that’s extremely harsh, I really do. I’m not sure that’s a penalty.

“But [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang takes it well. He’s cool and he’s calm. Especially after last week, this was such big one after missing in the derby game [against Tottenham ].”

Granit Xhaka had opened the scoring in the first half, wrongfooting David De Gea with a long-range effort.

The result sees Arsenal leapfrog United into the top four and leaves the Gunners just a point behind third-placed north London rivals Tottenham.
