Shock as EACC officer abductors demand Ksh.2M ransom

A 37-year-old man, Shaban Wangatia Otinda was arrested on Sunday in Kitengela, and is set to be arraigned in court on Monday for allegedly kidnapping an officer of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and demanding a Ksh.2 million ransom.

The suspect; Shaban Wangatia Otinda, was arrested on Sunday in Kitengela, Nairobi, following a trap laid by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. According to the DCI, the suspect, who is set to be charged with abduction, was nabbed while waiting to receive the money. Meanwhile, the victim has since been rescued.

β€œThe victim was found safe and rescued; the suspect will be arraigned in court today (Monday),” said the DCI.
