Rift Valley leaders slammed for purporting to be speaking on behalf of Elgeyo Marakwet over dams

The rift in Rift Valley keeps getting wide due to leaders taking new stands every day over the blowing corruption saga involving Kimwarer and Arror Dams that has heavily been associated with the Deputy President William Ruto.

Alex Tolgos, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor has apologized to President Uhuru Kenyatta after four MPs made negative comments regarding the dams projects on Saturday.

β€œOn behalf of the people of Elgeyo-Marakwet, we sincerely apologise to the Head of State over political utterances by four MPs and a handful of MCAs, purporting to be speaking on behalf of the people on the ongoing investigations,” he stated.

The MPs, Daniel Rono (Keiyo South), Kangongo Bowen (Marakwet East), Oscar Sudi(Kapseret MP) and Elgeyo Marakwet Woman Representative Jane Kiptoo had threatened to organize demonstrations against the Government.

They wanted the construction of the Ksh21 billion dams halted, pending investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The Governor noted the MPs’ sentiments did not represent the views of Elgeyo Marakwet people and their leaders.
