Is Rio Ferdinand’s Advice Good for Chelsea Star Hudson Odoi?

Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he would probably seek a move away from Chelsea FC if he were in Callum Hudson-Odoi’s shoes.

The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of the Blues’ most promising young talents but he has been used sparingly by Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea FC this season.

Indeed, the teenager is yet to start a Premier League game this season and most of his appearances for the west London side have come from the substitutes’ bench.

Hudson-Odoi’s future at Chelsea FC has been a source of speculation in recent months and he has been touted as a potential target for Bayern Munich.

And Manchester United legend Ferdinand has now offered his take on the English youngster’s situation at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Ferdinand said when asked if he should leave Chelsea FC: “If I was starting at Chelsea every week or at least getting regular minutes, I’d say, ‘No’.

“Chelsea is a big club. He’s at home in London. He is a fantastic young English talent in the little snippets we have seen of him. I don’t know how he doesn’t get more game time.

“If I was him, and I am not getting game time, and seeing Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson flying in Germany, other young players who are getting game time in teams who I would consider myself better than, I’d be gone.

“I would be saying: ‘I am going’. I’d want to feel that I have a real chance of getting in the first team and opportunities.

“Under Sarri, until now, I think he will be sitting there thinking: “I don’t feel part of his plans properly when I feel I am ready now”.”

Hudson-Odoi came off the bench to score in Chelsea FC’s 3-0 win over Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League last week.

He will be hoping to feature when the Blues return to Europa League action on Thursday night with the return leg of their last 16 clash in Ukraine.

The Blues will then travel to Everton in their next Premier League game on Sunday 17 March.
