Controversial and fierce Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has taken a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto for perpetually dragging in the name of Opposition Supremo Raila Odinga into the KSh21 billion dams’  alleged scam under probe by DCI George Kinoti.

The DCI is investigating alleged loss of KSh21 billion meant for construction of Kamwarer and Arror dams without due diligence, even as the contracted Italian company insisted that the work had started.

Last Thursday, Ruto dismissed reports that KSh.21 billion has been lost in Arror and Kimwarer dam projects in Elgeyo-Marakwet County. Speaking during the launch of a report on the state of Judiciary at the Supreme Court building, Ruto said the amount in question is KSh.7 billion.

But Keter, a longtime critic of DP Ruto  in apparent reference to DP Ruto’s outburts directed to Odinga, insists that he should come out and tell the nation what he knows about the payments yet he had not been summoned by the DCI.

“I am getting sick and tired of leaders who blame Raila every time they are mentioned in a scandal they should rather be telling us about the towels and other materials they received from the suppliers,” he wrote on his tweeter handle.

But at Nyeri on Saturday, Ruto insisted that Mr Odinga is the one behind the dams controversy, adding that there is nothing strange in the project since it’s ongoing.

“We will build those dams because we are a responsible government that will stand by what we promised Kenyans. What is unacceptable to us is exaggeration with the aim of politicising and profiling government projects to be used in political campaigns down the road,” he said.
