A 20-year old woman has take her life in Kisumu over a Ksh 10 chapati.
The deceased woman who was identified as Sharon is said to have been accused by her aunt Grace Auma of misusing money to buy chapati and boiled beans instead of cooking for the family.
Auma who works as a salonist told journalists she left money to be spent for lunch but upon inquiry, she found out her niece spent it on her.
It was after a short exchange between the two that Sharon locked herself up in a one-bed roomed house before taking own life after Auma left for work.
Her uncle Nicholas said they did not notice any strange behaviour in Sharon adding that it was unfortunate she hanged herself.
“We have not seen her express anything that might be related to what she has done. We are waiting for police report to show us what happened,” he said.
Police took the body to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital mortuary.
