Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has yet again hit at his Kapsaret counterpart Oscar Sudi, insisting that his venom against President Uhuru Kenyatta may not be tolerated in future.
Early this week, Sudi caused a stir when he claimed that Uhuru and Raila Odinga had formed a secret network to block DP Ruto from ascending to power, a claim that Raila has often dismissed.On his Facebook page on Friday, Ngunjiri accused Ruto’s team of insincerity, adding that it’s only Uhuru who convinced Mt Kenya region to trust Ruto after deadly 2007 polls.
“That we still remember what happened in 2007 between the Kikuyu and the Kalenjin. We remember who did what, when, and to who,” he wrote.
“That after 2007 it was only Uhuru who had the capacity to convince Mt Kenya that it was possible to trust Ruto. That outside Uhuru Mt Kenya would not touch Ruto, even with a 10-ft pole.”
In what people thought would be unlikely, Uhuru managed to form an alliance with Ruto which went on to conquer the country in the last three presidential elections.
The relationship between the two has been shaky with Jubilee party splitting into two; a pro-Uhuru camp and that of the DP Ruto, further raising doubt on the latter’s 2022 presidential elections.
Uhuru, who is set to retire in 2022, has been working closely with his former competitor Raila Odinga. In Mt Kenya, a group of leaders led by Maina Kamanda have also formed a caucus that opposes Ruto’s bid.
