On Thursday noon, a Kenyan court piled the pressure on Nandi Governor Stephen Sang in relation to an alleged defamation suit filed by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.

According to reports, Justice Lucy Njuguna has given the governor a maximum of 14 days to respond to the lawsuit, where he was mentioned as a respondent with Didmus Barasa, Kimani Ichung’wah and Oscar Sudi.

The warning was directed to Sang once he failed to provide a statement with the judge warning that if he did not do so the second time, the court would be forced to make a ruling without his presence.

In his defence, Sang asked the court for more time in order to compile compelling evidence.

Through his lawyer, the governor argued that he was yet to acquire information from government agencies on a controversial ship that was blown up at the Indian ocean in 2014.

He further added that the information about the ship that reportedly contained heroin was crucial when forming his defence.
