Police recover explosives in a raid in Kwale

Police, on Friday, raided a house to be believed raided a training center for Al shabaab and recovered terrorism assorted items in Ngombeni area in kwale County.

Pangas, knives, cables, fertilizers, matchboxes, military trousers and books and notes with religious writings were recovered in the process, The Star reports.

Also recovered were black flags with white writings resembling the ones used by ISIS, al-Shabaab and Boko Haram terror militants.

The anti-terror officers also nabbed items believed to be explosives.

“We believe these are teaching grounds for terror activities,” Kwale police boss Tom Odero told the Star.

Odero said some of the writings in books had been translated in Swahili to read, ‘tuko tayari kwa vita’, which translates to ‘we are ready for war.’

It is almost a month after the Dusit D2 terror attack which claimed lives in Nairobi and citizens are urged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities

Nobody was in the house during the raid but there were signs that the occupants left moments before the raid.
