Good news for Manchester United as French winger Anthony Martial et al return to form against Arsenal

Manchester United is facing a wounded Arsenal side in a English Premier League clash this weekend after suffering a defeat in the hands of ten placed Rennes in France in a UEFA Europa league .

United differently come revamped after beating PSG in the UEFA Champions League and going seventeen matches without a loss in the hands of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Anthony Martial, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera are all set to return to the Manchester United squad to face Arsenal this weekend.

Martial has been sidelined for over three weeks with a groin injury while Herrera (hamstring) and Matic (muscle) have been absent for the last fortnight. United overcame Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League round-of-16 tie without 10 players due to injury or suspension but their injury issues appear to be easing and Paul Pogba will be available after he was banned for the second leg in Paris.

Eric Bailly limped off in the 36th minute at the Parc des Princes but is free to face Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.

“No problem whatsoever,” Solskjaer added. “We’ve gone through to the quarter-finals, which is what we sometimes expect at Man United, it was the way that it happened, of course, the celebrations at the end, it just happens when you win a game at the end like we did. Then again, no problem, we’ve got Arsenal, a fantastic game to get ready for again.”

“Same decisions you always have when you go into a game,” Solskjaer added. “One, you’ve got to consider their approach, what systems, do you think they will play, which is impossible to predict because they change a lot!

“Then you’ve got to look at who’s fit and how we approach the game, different kind of systems or counter-attacking game, different type of game. But now, of course, the fitness issue plays in more than ever, because we’ve got players coming in, players who put a proper shift in. It was one of the hardest nights we’ve had physically, probably this one and the Arsenal Cup game were the two toughest games we had.

“And it was great to have fresh legs [in Paris]. Scott [McTominay] and Fred covered the ground so much and is something we have to consider this time.”
