Uhuru’s nominee approved by parliament to head NPSC

After the long wait and anxiety by the candidates who wished for the honour of the job came to an end,the National assembly has approved the nomination of Eliud Kinuthia as the chairman of the National police service commission (NPSC).

He will take the place of Johnston Kavuludi who had been at the helm of the commission for the last six years . His term elapsed in 2018.

He was nominated by The president after a vetting process that saw prominent personalities like the former national assembly speaker Kenneth Marende.

Kinuthia had said during the interview he looked forward to a time when a department in the police will be formed to deal specifically with cases of domestic violence and child abuse.

He promised to put more focus on ensuring the existing gaps between the police and members of the public are bridged.

“These gaps have exposed weak links between the police and citizens. We need a review that will help build confidence,” he said
