Tusker FC chairman reveals the reason behind pulling out of the FKF shield tournament

Last season’s quarter-finalists Tusker FC have pulled out of the FKF Shield tournament as they aim to put more focus in their Kenyan Premier League season.A

The last time the Brewers bagged the trophy was back in 2016 when they edged out Ulinzi Stars 1-0 in the final on course to their domestic double. The competition offers it’s winners a chance to participate in the CAF Confederations Cup. Tusker are currently fifth in the league table with 25 points and play AFC Leopards on Saturday 9th March at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos in their next league match.

Speaking to the club’s official portal, Tusker chairman Daniel Aduda confirmed they will not take part in this year’s edition of the tournament, “It was not an easy decision to make but we want to help the team concentrate on the league. We have a target of winning the title and want to focus on that.” 

Tusker are currently 5th on the Kenya Premier League table, 7 pints behind leaders Bandari.
