Summer signings; Mega boost for Liverpool as target Werner future remains wide

Major teams are bracing for the summer signing to fish in readiness for the new season and eyes are wide open for every possible move, it is the in thing at the moment.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been handed a double boost in his pursuit for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.

It emerged this week that the Reds asked their German counterparts to be kept informed regarding Werner and his future at the club.

Werner, 23, has reportedly angered his current club by agreeing terms over a deal with Bayern Munich – despite no talks between the two clubs.

The striker’s agent, Karlheinz Forster, had negotiated a deal with the Bundesliga champions, with Werner seemingly set on a switch to the Allianz Arena.

However according to Bild , Bayern are now focusing their attention on tying down star striker Robert Lewandowski to a new deal.

It is understood the Bundesliga giants want to underline his status as their No 1 talisman by offering him improved terms on his current contract which expires in 2021.

That seemingly puts Liverpool in the driving seat to sign Werner, with the Premier League club intent on signing a replacement for Daniel Sturridge who is set to leave Anfield this summer.

Leipzig have also launched their own search for a fresh face ahead of next season, and are reportedly eyeing Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham.

The Sun report that Abraham, who has scored 21 goals on loan at Aston Villa this season, could become the latest British star to move to Germany.

Leipzig loaned Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal in January, and previously recruited Scotland winger Oliver Burke before his return to England.

And should Werner depart, then Abraham, who opted against a switch to Wolves in January, could come in as his replacement.
