St. Joseph Nyabigena student to face murder charges

St. Joseph’s Nyabigena Boys High School student in Kisii could face murder charges following the death of his colleague last week.

Isaiah Mirinya, a school prefect, has been in police custody since February 27, Citizen Digital reports.

He was taken to the Nyamarambe Police Station over the murder of Kevin Omwando three days earlier.

“We want more time to complete investigations, a postmortem, mental assessment, recording of statements and gather more evidence,” the Prosecution said.

Ogembo Resident Magistrate Gloria Barasah granted the application to hold him for five more days.

The suspect is likely to be arraigned at the Kisii High Court to answer to the charges.
