More trouble hit Real Madrid

Losing games, Losing players – Real Madrid loses two more first team players to serious injuries

Real Madrid have confirmed the injuries to both Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal. Vazquez was replaced in the first half of the game against Ajax with Gareth Bale replacing him. The injury news about Carvajal is a surprise though as he finished the match and did not look to have suffered any physical pain during the game. Vazquez suffered a grade one tear while Carvajal suffered a grade two tear with both players expected to miss up to a month out of action. They will both miss the games against Valladolid and Celta Vigo before the international break. After the break, they play Huesca on Sunday 31 March.

So far in 2019, Real Madrid have played 18 games and both Carvajal and Vazquez have played in almost all of those. Carvajal has played 1,170 minutes, which is 72% of the total and Vazquez has accumulated 1,096, which is 68% of the total. Odriozola will replace Carvajal and Vazquez has a number of players vying for his position with Asensio, Bale and potentially Isco stepping in.

Vinicius, however, is out for two months and Bale could miss time after injuring his ankle late on against Ajax. Marcos Llorente trained on his own on Thursday as he recovers from injury while Keylor Naavas and Reguilón trained inside the facilities a Valdebebas too. Elimation from Europe has come on the back of costly Clasico defeats to arch-rivals Barcelona in La Liga and Copa del Rey competition. Before seeing it confirmed that he is set for a stint on the treatment table, Carvajal had told Movistar Plus when summing up the Blancos’ campaign : “In one week, we’ve lost everything. Our opponent was better than us and deserved to progress. “We’ve had a s****y season. I don’t see this as the end of a cycle. We have a young team, but the margin for improvement is enormous; we have to face that and not shy away.”
