A climb for Arsenal as a key player banned ahead of their clash with fire breathing United

After a show of resilience, and unrelenting power of play, Manchester United head to Emirates for a English Premier League clash although with injured squad but Arsenal are also suffering with a ban with one of their main dependaable players.

Arsenal have been handed a selection setback ahead of their fixture against Manchester United this weekend.

Lucas Torreira has seen his three-match ban upheld after his club unsuccessfully appealed the red card he was given against Tottenham last weekend.

The Uruguay international was sent off in second-half stoppage time of the north London derby after a rash challenge on Spurs full-back Danny Rose.

Torreira’s ban means he will now miss the home fixture against United on Sunday afternoon, as well as the upcoming Premier League fixtures against both Newcastle and Everton.

However, the 23-year-old midfielder will be available for selection on Thursday night when his side face Rennes in the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 encounter.

The news of Torreira’s setback will bad news for manager Unai Emery as he prepares his squad for the massive league fixture vs United this weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side go into the match one point ahead of Arsenal and currently occupy fourth-place as they battle for Champions League qualification.

Although the ban for Torreira comes as a setback for the home side, United are also set for their own setbacks ahead of the clash at the Emirates stadium.

Nine players are doubts for the clash this weekend with Phil Jones ill, and Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez all injured.
