A 38-year-old woman is nursing injuries after she was attacked by her 26-year-old niece over suspected man’s love. The incident happened on Tuesday evening in Riomweri, Nyamware area, Nyaribari Chache in Kisii County. It is alleged that Rosabella Nyabonyi was beaten by Lilian Barongo on grounds that Nyabonyi has been having an affair with Barongo’s lover.
“Barongo clobbered Nyabonyi while she was returning from a shop. Barongo is accusing Nyabonyi of attempting to snatch her man,” said Richard Ochako. Mr Ochako said it took the intervention of community policing officials to stop Barongo from beating helpless Nyabonyi. “Were it not for community policing officials Nyabonyi could be dead by now. She was rescued and rushed to a local private clinic for treatment,” said Ochako.
One of the community policing officials who identified himself as Samson Orero said Barongo managed to escape on foot into a local tea bush. “The suspect has gone into hiding after she clobbered her aunt. We are tracing her to be arrested and charged in court over assault,” he said. Orero warned women against sharing men.
