Kenya Airways board of directors chairman Michael Joseph has for a long time been a darling to many Kenyans. This has majorly been attributed to the fact that he was able to transform Safaricom and make it one of the best performing company not just in Kenya but around Africa.
His stellar tenure at the helm of Safaricom would then see him bag a presitigious position at Kenya’s National Carrier, Kenya Airways.
Alongside other managers and board members, they were tasked with reviving KQ’s dying fortunes.
Joseph and his team have been unable to do that. They have instead resorted to making Kenya Airways more broke than they found it.
From taking home huge pays to gagging employees to hiring people without following due process, Micheal Joseph and Kenya Airways CEO Sebastian Mikosz surely owe Kenyans answers.
According to Kenya Aviation Workers Union Secretary General Moss Ndiema, Micheal Joseph hired his girlfriend Catherine Kamau as the head of marketing at Kenya Airways.
Mrs. Kamau withdraws a salary of 1.3 million shillings from KQ on a monthly basis. This is despite the fact that she was never subjected to any interviews.
She was just handpicked by her boyfriend Micheal Joseph and boom! She was up there with the Top managers at KQ.
I guess this explains why KQ continues to toil despite the fact that the National government has time and again bailed it out to help it streamline it’s operations.
