Earlier today normalcy was disrupted in the JKIA after Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) went on strike.

KAWU expressed their concerns and pointed out that they are unhappy with the board of management, unfair staff hiring and compensation and proposed takeover of the airport by Kenya Airways.

In this regard, the Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) condemned arbitrary arrest of Kenya Aviation Workers Union chairman Moss Ndiema and harassment of union members.

The COTU said it will continue to stand in solidarity with workers in the aviation industry who are protesting against planned takeover of the airport by Kenya Airways (KQ).

“We strongly Condemn the violation of Workers right, through arrests, abuse, assault, humiliation, and intimidation can never win. Solidarity in with aviation sector workers,” COTU said.
