Over the recent past, Real Madrid have reportedly been seeking for the services of Hazard but the narrative seems to have changed.
Madrid are reportedly setting their sights on PSG star Neymar this summer, meaning Chelsea may just hold onto Eden Hazard.
Madrid are confident that they can sign Neymar from PSG according to the Times, with the 27-year-old encouraging interest and hoping for an increase in his £25m-per-year current salary (not a typo).
Neymar joined PSG for around £200m in 2017, and a similar fee would be needed to take him to Madrid – meaning the Spanish side would be less likely to meet Chelsea’s valuation of Hazard, which is reportedly north of £100m.
Hazard has not ruled out the possibility of remaining at Chelsea, despite his contract expiring in 2020. The club have reportedly offered him the most lucrative deal in the club’s history in a bid to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
