Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, on Tuesday, formally handed over the Ministry Of Sports, Culture and Heritage (MOSCA) to CS Amina Mohamed.
The ceremony took place at the Sports Ministry offices where he took the chance to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing him to the position.
“At the handover ceremony to the incoming Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed. I once again thank President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto for considering me amongst 50 Million Kenyans to serve my country in the capacity of a CS,”
He further stated: “I wish CS Amina the best in her new role.”
Echesa, who learnt of his firing on Friday, revealed that his dismissal came as a surprise to him.
While addressing mourners at a funeral in Marina village, Kakamega County on Saturday, Echesa stated that the Head of State did not inform him of the move in advance.
“It is within President Kenyatta’s mandate to hire and fire but still I would also want to know what happened.
I am cool and also want to urge my supporters and Luhyas to remain calm. I remain grateful to the President for offering me an opportunity to serve in his cabinet,” he stated.
