The Curtains have finally fallen on outgoing Sports CS Rashid Echesa as he officially handed over power to incoming Sports CS Amina Mohammed.
Echesa was last week sacked in a mini-cabinet reshuffle by President Kenyatta with his position handed over to Amina who was in turn replaced by Prof. George Magoha at the Education docket.
Echesa’s sacking sent a lot of shockwaves across the country and especially in Western Kenya where Echesa hails from with leaders from the region calling on President Kenyatta to reconsider his decision.
Echesa also said that he was waiting for answers as to why he was sacked since according to him, he did nothing wrong to warrant President Kenyatta’s wrath.
As he is still waiting for answers, business must still continue as usual and with that in mind, the embattled former CS has handed over the reigns of power at the Sports Docket to Amb. Amina Mohammed.
In a small ceremony at Kencom, Echesa took time to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto for bestowing their faith and trust in him when they appointed him CS 13 months ago.
