Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has given a new directive to 342,916 KCPE and 28,713 KCSE candidates who had breached registration procedure by posting fake documents.
On Monday, the council faulted the candidates for using fake birth certificate numbers.
KNEC Chief Executive Officer Mercy Karogo disclosed that the anomalies were detected during a validation exercise by the agency.
The Standard Eight and Form Four candidates have until Friday next week to rectify their records.
“For this year, the council has directed all candidates without birth certificates or those who posted fake numbers to ensure they get the document by Wednesday, March 6, and post them online by Friday March 15,” Karogo mentioned.
Karogo added that the council was shocked by the behavior of some school heads and parents.
“Some just entered zeros while others entered some funny digits. We detected all these and canceled their registrations,” she revealed.
During the registration process, schools were expected to enter details of correct birth certificates and legitimate photographs of candidates, accurate candidates’ names, school codes, and subjects.
KNEC registered 1.78 million candidates for the 2019 examinations.
Of the registered students, 1,089,671 were for KCPE while 698,935 were for KCSE in 10,304 examination centres.
