A company associated with billionaire Business Man Chris Kirubi has landed a lucrative deal with the National Youth Service.

The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Public Service and Gender Affairs Margaret Kobia said the deal will see Centum Investments handle the training for NYS recruits to equip them with skills needed to achieve the Big Four Agenda.

Kobia added that under the deal, Centum would also employ some of the NYS recruits who will undergo what she termed as “comprehensive training”.

The Kirubi-owned company will sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state firm on Tuesday afternoon at the NYS headquarters along Thika Road.

NYS was taunted as one of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s landmark projects in his first term in office.

However, the firm has suffered a tainted image with numerous mega corruption scandals running into billions of shillings stolen through ambitious NYS projects.

In 2015, several government officials were suspended from public service and arraigned in court over loss of Sh790 million at NYS.

In 2018, a similar scandal involving loss of Sh9 billion saw over fifty suspects arraigned in court – including Youth Affairs PS Lilian Omolo.
