Roysambu residents worried by an influx of suspected illegal immigrants

Foreigners believed to hail from West Africa have returned to Roysambu area, six months after their eviction, causing panic among residents.

The foreigners believed to be illegal immigrants have been steadily returning to the estate after their eviction back in 2018.

“We fear they will return with their criminal ways,” stated Mary Kamau, a resident who runs a hotel in the area.

According to loca News, the foreigners have previously been blamed for prostitution and con games.

James Tochi, a landlord claimed he rented out a two bed-roomed house to two foreigners which ended up having ten occupants.

“It is so hard to send them away because they pay rent in advance, even for a total of seven months. They are good for business but at the same time very stubborn,” he stated.

In September 2018, the Kenyan Government launched a crackdown on foreigners living in the country without work permits.

The foreigners were asked to register afresh in order to weed out criminals.

The immigrants especially those from West Africa have recently been associated with drug trafficking, sexual crimes and fraud.
