Royal Media Services Journalists and Crew Massively Robbed amid 6th Devolution Conference

Two Royal Media Services journalists, Stephen Letoo from Citizen TV and Waweru Nyambura from Inooro TV on Monday became victims of a robbery incident in Kirinyaga County. 

The two were in the company of cameramen and had gone to cover the Sixth Annual Devolution Conference at Kirinyaga University. 

The robbers made away with company valubles including Macbook Laptops, PXW Cameras, Citizen TV branded microphones, bags, money, cables and hard drives for both Citizen TV and Inoooro TV.

Speaking to local reporters, Letoo narrated that they had driven to Kutus to have lunch.

Upon exiting the hotel, they found the window of their car had been smashed and the items missing. It is believed that the robbers opened the car through the smashed window.

An eyewitness reported that he saw a car speeding off the scene of the crime. 
Letoo wondered how the incident happened because police officers were in the same establishment.

The five-day conference is expected to play host to more than 6000 delegates.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru had promised tight security during a preparation meeting for the event.

“We have held meetings with security officers from the region to discuss how the delegates will be protected during the conference,” she confirmed.

The conference will build up from previous ones and allow the government and its key stakeholders to discuss what they have managed to deliver, the transformation over the last one year and to measure the progress made in regards to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four Agenda.
