Fresh UEFA clash updates; Who’s playing and who is not as PSG welcome Man Utd?

PSG are set to overrule any chances of Manchester United of overturning their first leg UCL clash and deeper sink them into a possible season of bagging a cup in the season but not all players are ready and fit for the game in both teams.

Kylian Mbappe looks set to retain his role as Paris Saint-Germain’s central striker against Manchester United on Wednesday night because Edinson Cavani is unlikely to start.

The Uruguayan missed the first leg at Old Trafford last month with a hip injury and hasn’t featured for the Ligue 1 champions since February 9.

French outlet TF1 claim Cavani will return to training on Monday but is unlikely to start against United, meaning Mbappe is likely to play through the middle, with Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler flanking the 20-year-old forward.

Brazilian forward Neymar remains sidelined for PSG after picking up a metatarsal injury in January and is return dates for play remains scarce.

Ahead of the game, Les Parisiens coach Thomas Tuchel has urged his players to adopt a professional approach in order to ensure they progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.

“Everything is going well and we are confident. But it’s half-time in this two-legged tie. A lot of people are saying to think about Barcelona, the 4-0 and then 6-1,” Tuchel said.

“Others say that Paul Pogba is missing and it will be fine. We must find the middle ground between these two views. We cannot play with fear nor with too much confidence.”

PSG defender Marquinhos said: “We cannot think that we have done the hard bit. We cannot fall into the trap of thinking it will be easy. We have to approach this match with the same intensity, the same attitude as Old Trafford.”

Mbappe scored twice on Saturday as PSG came from behind to beat Caen 2-1 in Normandy and speaking after his match-winning brace, he said: “The coach insisted on winning this match to prepare for the visit of Manchester, that’s what we did.

“We will come home, rest and prepare well for the important match which awaits us on Wednesday.”
