Two police officers died on the spot and 10 passengers injured in an accident at Waa on the Likoni-Lunga Lunga highway in Kwale.
The morning accident involved a tuk tuk and a matatu that was heading to Lunga Lunga from Likoni.
Matuga OCPD Joel Chesire said the bodies of the officers were taken to Coast General Hospital mortuary.
According to Chesire, the two officers were heading to work to carry out their duties at Magandia roadblock when the accident occurred.
“The two officers were in the tuk tuk. The driver sustained serious injuries,” he said.
Chesire said the cause of the 8.45 am deadly accident, is yet to be established.
Meanwhile, four administration police officers were seriously injured when a truck they were travelling in along the Amuma-Garissa highway struck an improvised explosive device IED planted by insurgents on Saturday morning.
Police said that their vehicle they were travelling in from Alinjugur AP post in Fafi constituency were burnt down by a fire from the device placed on the road.
