A Class five pupil has moved Kenyans with a touching letter to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) pleading for the transfer of her mother back to the city.

The letter, written on February 24, only went viral on Sunday, March 3 after being heavily shared by sympathizers who could relate to the pupil’s predicament.

If the letter is anything to go by, the pupil’s mother is currently posted in Moyale whilst the pupil is somewhere in the city. It goes on to plead with the TSC to allow the Moyale-based mother and teacher to at least be relocated to a school which is at least closer to her family.

I hope you are as fine as a fiddle. I just want to tell you if you can try and transfer mum from Moyale to somewhere close to us such as Thika or Nairobi please,” the letter read.

According to the young student identified as Nicole, it was very disheartening that her mum was not able to follow any progress of her own children because work had taken her to a remote area in the country.

“If not for our mum, please make the transfer for us. I am a class five pupil and my brother is in pre-primary. We need our mother back,” The saddening letter emerged two months after TSC’s announced to transfer 3,094 primary and secondary headteachers.

The commission’s Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia explained the transfers have been occasioned by retirements of the teachers in the last three months, hence the need for transfers.
