Did You See Tottenham Boss’ Reaction Towards Lucas Torreira After His Red Card?

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino appeared to console Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira after his red card in the north London derby.

Torreira was given a red card in stoppage time for a high tackle on Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

The Uruguayan midfielder looked to win the ball originally before his follow through caught Rose on the shin.

By the letter of the law the Arsenal man had to go, but it was clear from his reaction there was no malicious intent.

Pochettino has recognised the good intentions, despite the end result, and taken time out after full-time to speak to Torreira.

The midfielder was a surprise non-starter for the Gunners in such a huge game.

A win for Unai Emery’s side could’ve seen them go to within a point of their neighbours, but Harry Kane equalised from the spot.

Aaron Ramsey had opened the scoring in his last north London derby when he rounded Hugo Lloris, but the Frenchman atoned for that and his midweek error by saving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s stoppage time penalty.

The stalemate maintains the four-point gap between the sides, but more dropped points by Pochettino’s side does allow Manchester United and Chelsea to close the gap.

Tottenham have gone from title hopefuls to top four uncertainty in the space of seven days.

Pochettino said recently that Tottenham were ten years from winning the title.

And were chairman Daniel Levy to come to him and demand a trophy he would ask him to hire “a magic man”.

Pochettino will now prepare his side for a trip to Borussia Dortmund in the Champion League last 16.

Tottenham won the first leg 3-0 at Wembley and are firm favourites to progress to the quarter-finals.
